Sudesh Peiris is one of Sri Lanka’s most accomplished weightlifters, known for his strength, determination, and unwavering commitment to his sport. Born on April 3, 1985, in Sandalankawa, Sudesh discovered weightlifting at a young age and quickly rose to prominence with his powerful lifts and fierce competitive spirit.

His dedication earned him the honor of representing Sri Lanka at the 2012 London Olympic Games in the men’s 62kg weight category. Competing against the world’s strongest athletes, Sudesh showcased his talent on the global stage, bringing pride to the island nation. Though he didn’t medal at the Olympics, his performance was a testament to his hard work and resilience.

Sudesh’s most notable achievement came at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he won a silver medal, making him one of the few Sri Lankan athletes to achieve such a feat at a major international event. His success brought attention to weightlifting in Sri Lanka and inspired many young athletes.
